GROCERY SHOPPING
Food shopping in Atyrau can be challenging if you don't know where to go, but you can find most everything here that you would in a Western grocery store. Produce tends to be excellent and very fresh, and often sourced from Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries (namely Uzbekistan). Chicken, beef, lamb and fish are dietary staples in Atyrau. Pork is available, but limited to certain vendors. The main produce markets in town are Koktem Bazaar, Dina Bazaar (the largest), and Rakhat Market. Check out these local hotspots on our photos page.
